In Roman mythology, Mars was the god of war, the son of Jupiter and Juno and was considered the father of Romulus and Remus, the mythical founders of Rome. Mars was a revered figure in Roman society, with festivals held in his honour. He was also associated with agriculture and the protection of Rome.
