This banner is a rare surviving artifact from the golden age of Australian carnival history. It was used by Harmon’s Boxing Troupe, a travelling show that was a fixture of Australian agricultural shows. This 1940s large hand painted boxing troupe banner shows some of the tough guys from the troupe, Boxer Bill Mulligan, ‘Knock-out Blow’ Evans & Jim ‘Giant’ O’Brien!The surface exhibits heavily distressed, aging marks, including paint cracking, creasing lines, and weathering patterns, adding significant historical character to this highly collectable piece.
